Aware Environmental Helps Allergy Sufferers

Environmentally friendly household products maker Aware Environmental Ltd has had its Sensitive laundry range approved by the National Asthma Council Australia's Sensitive Choice program. The range was recognized as its formula avoids harsh additives like fragrances, optical brighteners, dyes and enzymes that can cause allergies and skin irritation.

The Aware Sensitive range is free of ingredients that lead to skin problems among adults and children, said Aware Environmental managing director Andrew Chaney.

Around 7 million Australians are said to suffer from asthma and allergies. The National Asthma Council's Sensitive Choice 'blue butterfly' symbol identifies products and services that may benefit these people.

The Sensitive range includes laundry powder, laundry liquid, prewash stain remover and triple action soaker, in wash booster and whitener. The products are available through major and independent supermarkets.

Aware says it was also one of the first Australian laundry brands to remove palm oil derived ingredients from its formula.

Aware Environment also manufactures other "clean green" household consumer products such as air fresheners, skin and hair care, household cleaning and enzyme based cleaners for drains and other applications.

In business for over 20 years, it is profitable and the current dividend return is about 6 per cent fully franked. 2011-12 revenue was $11.7 million and net profit $0.77 million.

The ASSOB listed company says that while it is no longer looking for capital, it is looking for partners to help export opportunities and would consider issuing new shares if this were needed.
