Government Grants

The Tasmanian Innovation and Investment Fund (TIIF)

A new $8 million Tasmanian Innovation and Investment Fund (TIIF) from the Federal Government is expected to promote regional economic diversification and deliver long-term sustainable employment opportunities in Tasmania.

The TIIF will work with companies to provide support for new investments across a wide range of industries, including clean tech and clean energy.

The TIIF is part of the Tasmanian Forests Intergovernmental Agreement from the restructuring of the forestry sector. The Fund will support innovative projects that strengthen Tasmania's economic and employment base.

The TIIF will provide minimum grants of $50,000 on a competitive and merit-basis to ensure projects are commercially robust. Successful applicants must fund at least 50 per cent of their project's costs.

The TIIF will be delivered by AusIndustry. Recommendations for funding will be made by an Assessment Panel with representatives from the Australian Government, the Tasmanian Government and an independent member of the business community.

The program will end in 2013-14.
