Meet US Angel and VC Investors

The 50 for the Future Advance Innovation Program provides Australian start-ups with an opportunity to experience Silicon Valley through a network of valley veterans and to pitch directly to top tier venture capital and angel investors.

Applications for the program close on 14 March. Advance will then select the winning companies, who will embark on the 12 week program that starts in Australia in March and ends in Silicon Valley in May.

The program includes one-day workshops in Sydney on 20 March and Melbourne on 22 March. These will be led by Shayna Moderosi, Regional Manager of Silicon Valley based DLA Piper Venture Pipeline Group, and focus on strategic issues for securing funding. Participants will also pitch and receive feedback from an experienced panel.

There will be mentoring in April and May. Each start-up will be matched with one of 50 for the Future mentors and receive 10 weeks of pre and post summit coaching.

The mentors include entrepreneurial Australians living in Silicon Valley, who have successfully taken products to market, built high-performing teams, and attracted investment from venture capital firms and companies.

The 50 for the Future Advance Innovation Summit will be held in Silicon Valley from 15 to 17 May. This will bring together experienced Australian entrepreneurs, venture capitalists and angel investors for keynote speeches, panel discussions, networking opportunities and an intensive one-day workshop.

Participating start-ups will work with their mentors to enhance their pitches at the Summit.

A TiEcon Conference will be held in Silicon Valley on 18 and 19 May. TiEcon is said to be the world's largest conference for entrepreneurs with over 3,000 attendees. Advance Innovation Program participants receive a discount to attend TiEcon.

All participants will receive free legal advice from DLA Piper Australia over the three months of the program.

The program suits early stage start-ups seeking investment and exposure in Silicon Valley with top tier angel and venture capital investors.

For companies based in Australia, the cost is $2,000 per person which includes the workshops, mentor program, Summit and return flights from Australia to San Francisco.
