Solar Ltd (TSL) says it has achieved a breakthrough in lowering solar
energy costs with a technology that uses a concentrator lens and 75 per
cent fewer photovoltaic (PV) cells to produce the same electrical energy
as a traditional flat plate array with the same area as the lens. 
Sydney
based recycling innovator AKT Evolution Pty Ltd (AKTE) has acquired a
majority stake in Pambula Engineering on the NSW south coast as part of
its expansion plans. AKTE has a patented and established technology for
extracting nutrients from organic wastes, and says it has a growing order
book for its machines. 
Enzyme
Wizard says chemical-free cleaning using enzymes is a growing trend among
corporate and government clients, and cleaners of major CBD sites are
adopting the environmentally friendly products over chemically dense alternatives
as it helps the environment and raises Occupational Health and Safety
Standards. 
MiPower
International Ltd is developing what it says is the world's first almost
emission free wood burning furnace for generating electricity for homes
and businesses. The MiPower System will combine off-the-shelf technologies
to produce a unique product that is clean burning enough and with low
flue temperatures that it does not need a traditional flue. There will
be no visible smoke and no odour. 
Relivit
Holdings Ltd is planning to open Australia's first nappy recycling plant
in Sydney in 2014 and generate revenue from processing the waste and selling
the materials it recovers. The plant will be able to sterilize the waste
and separate the wood fibre and plastics before preparing these materials
for resale. The high quality wood fibre can be reused to make paper products
and the plastics can be used for construction materials and outdoor furniture.
Geomite
Developments Pty Ltd says the formulation for its Geomite soil improver
and natural fertilizer is now at the point where it can be marketed as
a flowable granulate for direct application or dissolved for fertigation.
An even more promising application is its potential use as a feed additive
to replace current hormone products in food production, says founder,
Barry Hayes.
