Plan for Nappy Recycling Plant
Relivit
Holdings Ltd is planning to open Australia's first nappy recycling plant
in Sydney in 2014 and generate revenue from processing the waste and selling
the materials it recovers. The plant will be able to sterilize the waste
and separate the wood fibre and plastics before preparing these materials
for resale. The high quality wood fibre can be reused to make paper products
and the plastics can be used for construction materials and outdoor furniture.

Organic Fertilizer Creates Nutrients and Biochar
Geomite
Developments Pty Ltd says the formulation for its Geomite soil improver
and natural fertilizer is now at the point where it can be marketed as
a flowable granulate for direct application or dissolved for fertigation.

Pre-Commercial Biojet Plant
Biofuels company Licella Pty Ltd has won a $5.4 million grant through
the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) to assess the feasibility
of constructing its first pre-commercial biofuel plant. Licella has developed
a Catalytic Hydrothermal Reactor process that can use any biomass as a
feedstock, including abundant low cost plant matter such as saw mill waste,
and produce bio- crude oils for a range of drop-in biofuels including
petrol, diesel and jet fuel. Read

Canadian Support for Atlantis Tidal Energy Project
Atlantis Resources Corporation has won a $5 million grant from the
Canadian Government towards a 1 megawatt or more tidal energy project
in the Bay of Fundy in Nova Scotia. The company will work with Lockheed
Martin and Irving Shipbuilding to develop, build, deploy and monitor the
turbine at the Fundy Ocean Research Centre for Energy test site. Deployment

Algae to Biofuels Grant
Biofuel company Muradel Pty Ltd has won a $4.4 million grant from
the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) to demonstrate its algal
biofuel technology. Muradel will put the funding towards a $10.7 million
project to upscale its marine algal production and harvesting technology
from pilot to demonstration size. The plant is near Whyalla in South Australia.

Organic omega-3 oil producer Qponics has a route to the Asia Pacific
market with a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Melbourne-based Nutrition
Care Pharmaceuticals Pty Ltd. Qponics is developing a novel aquaculture
system to grow algae for the commercial production of organic vegetarian
oil high in EPA and DHA omega-3 fatty acids needed for good health. Read
